Small Bathroom Vanities – Large Design Impact
What?!?! How big did you say that bathroom was? In today’s booming population, living spaces tend to be getting smaller and smaller, so bathrooms are smaller. And a lot of times, sink bathroom vanities are sparse and utilitarian. But truthfully, even in a small half bath, small bathroom vanities can be both attractive and aid in adding storage to that tiny space.
You may, of course, already know what you’re looking for in bathroom sink vanities. But whether you are envisioning an espresso finish dark wood vanity or stark white marble, there are some other things to consider when looking for a modern vessel sink vanity.
First, consider the size of your bathroom vanity. In a small half bath, you’ll really want to stick to 24 inch bathroom vanities, or at the very most 36 inches. Small bathroom vanities are usually single sink, and a modern single sink vanity can really help the overall look of your bathroom.
A designer would probably even suggest having a bathroom vanity with matching mirror to add continuity to a small space. Sink vanities 36 inches or larger are really more fitted to a small bath, but not necessarily a half bath (the type of bathroom which does not include a shower or bathtub).
Next, consider storage. A medicine cabinet can definitely be useful to include with your small bathroom vanities. And, although a pedestal sink may sound nice, unless you have a separate linen closet, there will not be very many places to organize your bathroom necessities.
Also, think about the narrow depth of your vanity set. Make sure to research the depth and research your sink’s narrow depth as well to be sure that they are the same. A square console bathroom vanity may be nice since you can include a little more depth without really taking up too much of your valuable floor space.
And of course, you will want to consider design. There are many aspects to choose from when considering the look of your small bathroom vanities. Choosing something sparse like an Addison 3-piece set for your bathroom accessories would pair well with a white ceramic sink and add visual space to a small area.
When price is a major consideration in your selection, and who is concerned about price these days, don’t overlook used bathroom vanities. Many times, when people upgrade and remodel their homes, they have some very nice-looking and functional vanities to discard and will be glad for you to pick up and remove from their home. What can be better than free?
A hardwood single sink bathroom vanity with an espresso finish could also be tasteful. Be careful if you have a vanity in dark finish to include some white ceramic accents. You may even want a tempered glass countertop to add some light to all of the darkness of the finish on the cabinet.
Bathroom lighting is another aspect to consider when looking at small bathroom vanities. The lighting should be adequate without being too harsh.
The one thing that is very difficult to customize about bathroom vanities is the size. For small bathroom vanities, 18 inches is probably the smallest you will find. Vanities 12 inches or smaller are almost impossible to find. And generally speaking, bathroom vanities aren’t found in sizes such as 50 inches.
But there is a wide range of sizes available for your small bathroom vanities, so don’t be afraid to decide what you want and go after it!
