When renovating or building a bathroom, unfinished bathroom vanities offer a great amount of variety for those who are working with a tight budget. During the design phase of your bath project, you may have a specific idea about the overall look of the room. Then later when you start execution, you realize that what you want is way over budget!
Before your room is finished, you start trying to figure out some way to save money. One way to ‘have your cake and eat it too’ is to buy unfinished, ready-to-assemble bathroom vanities. This will give you the opportunity to design your bathroom cabinet exactly as you wish.
Another advantage to buying unfinished bathroom vanities is that there is flexibility in the combination of various components of the vanity. Usually a pre-built vanity is a combination of cabinet, sink and sometimes includes a mirror.
Unfinished vanities are usually basically cabinets, much like a kitchen cabinet, only a couple of inches shorter. Unfinished vanities do not often come with a countertop. If there is a counter top included, it does not have its finished application of tile, granite or laminate. Neither does it have the sink hole cut out.
This allows you to build bathroom vanities with vessel sinks that sit on top of the counter. You control the size of the hole cut into the counter for vessel sinks only large enough to accommodate the drain plumbing.
Often unfinished bathroom vanities come without a ‘back’ because they are pushed up against the wall. Bathroom design these days has become much less traditional, so it is not uncommon to see free standing bathroom vanities. That doesn’t prevent use of an unfinished bathroom vanity, however. You can add a ‘back’ to the cabinet. You can then finish the entire cabinet in whatever way you wish.
Take a look at unfinished bathroom vanities. There are a lot of advantages to shopping around before making your final decision. From budget saving, to personal design, there are a lot of reasons to consider buying unfinished and completing the piece yourself. You will end up with a bathroom design as unique as you are without breaking the bank!
